Bettas

Do you think that if the bettas in places like walmart and pets at home were kept well, people would buy those instead of a goldfish for their bowl?

Seeing as though a betta is suitable for a bowl, and brighter couloured, I think it would encourage people to buy bettas

I think it would because I've heard people say the reason they don't get bettas is because they aren't livly and they don't move around but the goldfish do. So I think if they could at least get a few 2.5g's and divide it with a betta on each side that people would buy it when they saw how active they were.

I think there are two main reasons why people buy gold fish over bettas. The first is tradition. I know when I was little, we had two or three little gold fish cramed in a 2 gallon bowl. Alot of people had that growing up, so they want to do that for their children. The second reason is that people want to be able to have more than one fish in their tiny little tank, which you can't do with bettas.

I think if small tank manufacturers would stop posting pix of fish cramed in one little bowl people wouldn't be so inclined to buy as many.
