I left my betta's in the 20 gallon community tank, and I noticed right now that the female is skinnier, so I looked more into it, and I find a whole bunch of eggs with the male guarding them! I'm happy that they spawned but I didn't even mean for them too! What should I do now? I scooped them up with a little bucket of water and put em in my 5 gallon tank so they won't get eaten, the male didn't seem to mind and your supposed to remove the male after a couple days anyways right?

Please don't get mad that I removed them from the male, I panicked

You had a male and a female together? In a community? And weren't planning to breed them? I'm afraid you're in a bit of a pickle, depending upon your amount of eggs and how many tanks you can get. You may be able to give them away to a fish store, or w/e.
But upon the more pressing problems, thy will need food. Soon. So this is your real pickle. Since I'm assuming you don't have any fry food cultures (microworms, vinegar eels, baby brine shrimp) you have to get your hands on some pronto. Like, now. Betta fry should be fed twice a day. I'm afraid starting cultures takes a couple days at least. Brine shrimp also take a bit to hatch... Once they hatch, they will eat of their egg sacs for a couple days (2-3). Once its eaten, they are hungry. I don't know what you can do...... He res a topic you may need to read.

How long had your male and female been in the community tank together? Did they seem to get on okay? I'm no expert on spawning, but maybe you'll be able to contact a betta breeder in your area (via your LSF?) Who can help you out with fry food (though it may be for a price!)

I have Liquifry, it said it's ok for livebearer or egg-layers, so I guess I'll use that, they'll be able to eat that,
ya, I did have them in separate tanks, but my gourami almost killed my male betta, (his fins were all torn and he was almost dead!) so I had to put him in with my 20 gallon community tank, which had the female in it,...

your supposed to leave the male and take the female out i will be suprised if those fry ]survive

The eggs are still doing good, and I did all my research, I was trying to breed them before, but they weren't ready, so that's when I separated them, but then my male almost got killed by my gourami :(, so I had to put them in the tank together, I know they breed if together but it was just such a surprise,... a good one though, I already have homes for when they're big enough, (my LFS) said they would gladly take them, and I have liquifry for the babies, I was reading and it said that was fine for them, I also have betta food for when they're old enough to eat it ^^

I know that, but I don't have another tank for them, they'll get killed (my female) by my gourami
(to piePIEpie)

no no! it's ok! I've just had people on different sites complain to me today, and my anxiety disorder is a bit bad right now, (people getting mad at me doesnt help either)
anyways, I put my females (2 black mollies) in the 5 gallon tank, cuz their extremely pregnant, and by accident the eggs fell into the tank :( I guess no betta's for me! Oh well, maybe I'll learn from my mistake right?

you can try again
sorry things just come out lie that some times i know how youu mmust feel with that disorder i have aspergers

Ya, next time I'll just let nature take it's course, and whatever happens happens, the eggs were getting eaten in my 20 gallon community anyways, so they would have died either way right?

the community probably would have eaten them the male would have tried to protect them but he wouldnt have been able to stop the whole tank

Ok, I feel a bit better now thanks! hey, you wanna add me as a friend?

Hey hon, I am on the other site as well, they were not complaining at you, just giving their points of view from many many successful spawns and incidences where male and female together have not gone well at all. It is entirely up to you whether you keep male and female together but peeps have given you their opinons and experiences on it, so keep an eye out and just be watchful as one day it may not work.

As said other thread, the eggs you never know there may be the odd survivor though the odds are stacked against them with fungus that may set in, the mollies that may eat them etc and the fact daddy is not there to help aid the babies, keep that liquifry ready just in case and really hope it isnt a completely unsuccessful spawn for you.

Also hon, please dont take the comments as complaining, there are many people with many opinions, unfortunately the internet and the way things are written dont always come across as right, but take a step back from it and if find too stressful, PM with someone you think knows the topic in question for a one-to-one chat (I have in the past :))

Ok, thanks! :) I feel like silly now :(, I guess being disabled, I always assume that people are being mean (cuz people have been mean to me in the past)
