I got 2 new bettas from kg bettas on thursday. i put them both in to the tank as normal i then went outside to make a barracks for my betta boys when bred, when i came back in what did i find but my new betta from kg with my other oldest betta(lee with stubs) i thought OMG but they were just stitting opposite ends of the tank so it was a big shocker and both were fine no nips at all. they are both moved now of course.

thats weird. I would have thought they would fight. Maybe the older male could not see and the one from KG thought he would be to much of a challenge. But I don't know if bettas really think that way. I had a blind male once and he got around fine.

well from my reading and a few experiments. it seems the bigger (Alpha male) will keep the younger ones inline. but if you have 2 simiular size bettas the fight begins. also the less room they have the less fighting happens. this study was done over the weekend. no harm to the bettas and they were separated at night. removed if anyone started fighting or whatever.

i wouldnt take the risk of doing an exsperiment but it sounds very odd.Maybe the larger one is old and tired and the younger one just setling in to the tank?dunno just a thought.
