I'm new here and relativly new to Bettas, however I am in LOVE with them!!! Wow what spectacular fish! 15 years ago or so my sister and I had a Betta who lived 7 years and 9 months after we rescued him from a petstore... what a beautiful fish he was!!! I've recently "rescued" 6 Bettas from petstores (3 girls and 3 boys) well the crown tail I brought home died within a few days (severe tail rot... and who knows what else... poor boy) and now one of my veil tail boys is just hanging on...(brought him home with a swolen gill and quite listless) and one of my girls has major swim bladder problems(that she came with) ... anyway enough about my poor babies, what I am really here for is to find a good pair of healthy bettas to breed (for fun... not profit). I am looking for anyone from around the Montreal or Ottawa areas to get a few pairs from. (I would like to avoid petstores as those poor fishies are not really up to breeding and most are pretty old and sick and I don't want to encourage the petstores who do not take proper care of them). I am not too interested in super high lineage expensive Bettas since I don't plan on taking them to shows etc and really would like to avoid shipping costs as to put that money towards better tanks and plants etc. So if anyone out there would like to help me out that would be great!!!
