Bettas In Biorbs? Yes? No? How Many?

However, that is an exception- people have 'had success' keeping goldfish in very small tanks, or electric catfish with cichlids, that doesn't mean we should all do it, or that it is any good for the fish. Bettas are solitary by nature, if they were designed to live happily together it would be very apparent.

just one male or one female, no more than that and certainly not together. these fish will fight and kill each other no matter the sex. Just add soem decorations and get a really cool betta, not just your local fish stores $3.00 betta. Check out www.aquabid.com for some really interesting bettas.

On the Biorb subject, I'd imagine there are ways to cut down the current and make the tank more betta friendly anyway. For example, you could replace the ceramic substrate stuff with normal gravel (the filter will still work fine, but it is less sharp so won't cause any fin damage and makes decorating the tank easier).

:good:

The flow in my 30L is not strong, the bubble tubes sends the bubbles up to the top where they break. My boy seems to really enjoy being in there with his bowl mates.

My brother has a betta in his small BiOrb, the current seems quite strong in it, I think they use the same pump for the 15 and 30 litre varieties. You can cut down the current simply by squeezing the air tube :good:

WRONG! you can have more then one female together. go for 4 females or one male.

^ Not *always* though. Most sororities have a degree of changes required (whether that be changing fish, or working out a territory arrangement that keeps them moderately placid), and fighting still goes on- it just isn't usually quite as fierce.

but he said never to put more than one female together, and thats wrong i could get hundreds if not thousends of people that have more than one female together.
