I have a 30 gall community tank that my four females bettas have recently been introduced to. They were fighting too much amoungst themselves in my 10 and we had lost a bunch of fish in our community tank due to a crayfish (which is no longer there btw)

I was sitting watching the girls swim around (there are a few danios, tetras (2) and some guppies (mostly feeders ) which there hasn't been any problems.

All of a sudden my one female Mal (as in malicious - suiting name it would seem) started chasing one of the danios. and all of a sudden the other three started to attack this poor danio too. Then in a team effort that happened very fast the danio was no more, and the 4 of them were sharing the carcas swimming around in a school. I know sometimes 2 will gang up and chase another female betta but i've never seen anything quite like this.

Has anyone ever seen this before?

Maybe they have decided to gang up on a weaker fish in the tank? maybe they see something you dont. Make a close check on the fish they are attacking :)

Betta females are very creative when it comes to hunting food. Somehow pack behaviour doesn't suprise me too much. Though it is a bit disturbing....

Lol, disturbing? try seeing a dead fish in your local river floating on the surface and a massive zander comes in and bites half.. then blood goes everywhere! eww.. i almost through up :D

truth be told there isn';t much of the fish left to examine (essentially the backbone, some ribs and a bit of the skull are all that's left  )
