ok lil worried :lol: just notiched that some how 1 of my bettas managed to get over the divider in the tank to the other betta dont no how long they where there couldnt of been long. anyways my blue betta came off the worst and has ripped his tail and also has a big chunk missing from it aswel and my red 1 has had his tail ripped but not as much. will this heal bk and is there anything i can do

well ive added some colored plastic to try and calm them do so they cant see each other and i think its workin so i might make it permanent

Please be very careful if using Melafix, Bettas, (in my experience) can be very sensitive to it. I personally would not use it for Betta's. There are many that have used it without a problem, but my Betta died very shortly after adding it to the tank. I don't mean to be alarmist, but if you do decide to use it be VERY careful with the dosage. (it needs to be at a much more reduced dosage than you would treat other fish). Bettafix is the same thing, but diluted.

that could have been the fish too and maybe the melafix wasnt helping because of the issues your betta had.

Betta's dont fight to the death so dont worry about one killing another, however they will die from infection to injuries.

Regarding bettafix/melafix, as long as you follow the directions there is no problem.

Bettafix = 0.2% Melaleuca (tea tree)

Melafix = 1% Melaleuca

So that means Melafix is 5 times stronger good.gif

Bettafix = 1 tsp per 2 US gallons

Melafix = 1 tsp per 10 US gallons

So that means you add melafix at a rate 5 times less than Bettafix

So, the dosage has already been altered :good:

A little under one teaspoon for your size tank :good:

No probs....hope they recover from their ordeal soon. We've had the same thing happen in the past and their fins do heal pretty quickly :good:

You probably notice that the fins come back a paler colour to start with.

ok been got the melafix and been robbed lol anyways it says to remove the activated carbon now im nt sure wat that is. ive got a interpet mini filter. am i right in thinking the carbon bit is the block foam thing.

Lol.....they are worth every penny I'm sure.

The carbon filter sponge will be black but probably no need to remove it for treating with Melafix.
