When i was getting my new betta, i asked my LFS what food he would recomend for him (being i had some flakes and some crisps donated to me by a friend as i was setting up my new betta tank) he promptly told he that my betta (harley) would turn his his nose up at anything other than bloodworm or mozzy larva. so, dutifully, wanting to give harley the best, got some frozen bloodworm. After giving harley his 24 hours to settle in to his new tank with the current occupant ( a dwarf cory who doesnt like 'active' tanks named, imaginatively 'cory') i proceeded to give harley his first feed of bloodworm. which he promptly turned his nose up to
. Over the next few days of trying him on the flake, then the crisps, then buying some different betta flake and trying that, all hope seemed lost. Harley was having none of them (except the occasional few bloodworms). The next few days saw harley sulking on the bottom of the tank in some form of hunger strike.
Not Good!!
It was only after a few days and i was feeding cory his hikari micropellets (which incidently i only got as a free sample) i watched the tank for a few minutes and was surprised to see harley all of a sudden perk up, and scoff most of corys food!! since then harley wont touch anything other than the hikari micropellets (well, and the odd occasional few bloodworms when he fancies a treat). I then decided to bulk up on my supply of the micropellets and harley seems happier than ever. the bits he doesnt catch on the surface or on the way down he then goes fishing about (excuse the pun) through the sand with cory to find the remnants.
Bettas are fickle little fish sometimes, lol!!
