Bettas And Platys

I'm not sure what other people are going to say, but I can say that for me... It's working. If you look at my signature you can see that I have my platies and betta together (along with the guppies and bolivian rams), and I haven't had a bit of problem with them. I would think it depends on the betta, and the size of the tank as well.

For me bettas and platies have worked with no problems. The smallest tank I've had these two together was a 20gal. I've also kept bettas with guppies, mollies, and angels BUT every fish is different keep that in mind. But regardless bettas and platies will work.

Edit: For some strange you reason you get an extremely aggressive betta which isn't unlikely keep a spare bowl/tank on hand.
