well i posted this topic in beginers questions, however as you are the "betta" experts i thought you would no better

if i was to add a male betta and a male dwarf gourmi at young ages into the same 30g tank would they get along ?

ive heard they may fight but at young ages would they become accustumed to each other or is this unlikely?

cheers
Greg

well, while i'm certainly not an expert, i'd say it's unlikely they would get along. your betta, at least, would not be shippable until it was a certain age, and by then would already be territorial and aggressive.

also it isn't really a matter of being accustomed to one another as young males of a certaing age will fight with their male (and some female) siblings with whom they've been living since birth.

I have a female betta and two dwarf gouramis in the same tank and they are doing great. One of the dwarf gouramis is a male. The gouramis and betta are best friends and hang out all the time. I hope this was helpfull! :)

halfbloodprincess in your tank you have a rare relationship between your bettas and Dwarf Gourami. Since they are from the same family the males will certainly fight no matter what age they are introduced to each other.

thats why it was pointed out that it was a female betta with 2 of them. and she said one of the dwarf is a male.

i've had a female betta and a male dwarf gourami together and they tolerated one another, but they weren't thrilled about the the situation. i assumed greg meant a male and a male as these are the more available, colorful (generally), and volatile gender.

Even if its females instead of males, in most cases females or even more aggressive than males. They might be doing fine now but you'll wake up and find either the male dwarf gourami dead, or the bettas.

mine sort of get on., they only argue now if they happen to end up passing eacvh other to close, the betta blows itself up, and swims after the gourami for a few seconds and then gives up and goes on its way. for the most part mine get on fine
