Bettas Age?

Is there a way to know how old a betta is?

besides knowing when it was born and atc.

sometimes a picture can help so we can look at its fin growth
most pet shop bettas are about 1 year old but some can be younger

I read somewhere that they were only 6 months old!!! I guess that was wrong...

I think the only way you can know for SURE is if you get your betta right from the breeder.

WELL bettas ages from pet shop can vary, like i said normally 12 months but i got one that was only like 3 months

they could be older 2, there r some shady shops in my area that sell realy old bettas, pretty but def, old bredder cast offs, and people wonder y they only last a couple months,, if u get a fish that is allready 2 or more they wont have alot left , andd waht due to shipping stress and the betta in a cup syndrome.. basaaa.....yarr..

unless you get the fish from a breeder it can be very hard to tell an exact age. well cared for older bettas will have the very full lush fins and a almost thick muscular body. however a older betta that has been mistreated its whole life can be small thin and have crappy looking fins.
