hi all

i awoke this mornin to c my male an female betta sprawning it went on for about an hour he embraced her 4 times in this hour then she swam off but he stayed with the nest for a lil while then he swam of an left it he keeps goin back every lil while
is this ok wat hes doin???

hi. you will need to remove the female. she takes no part in rearing the young. the male will care for the eggs and any that fall he will pick up and spit back in. once the fry are free swimming the male will have to go too as he will eat them. the fry can be then fed on a ready made egg laying food. keep the tank covered with a towel, as once they start coming up for air they need the atmosphere to be warm. when they are old enough the males will need to be seperated in to seperate containers to stop them killing each other.

yes. he is just staking out the territory. any eggs that fall out he will pick back up

also you will need to feed the fry once the eggs are gone... a lot use daphnia.

is it ok to remove the dad?? if he isnt doin anythink at all with the eggs
cause he is just sittin down bye the plants an he doesnt even go over to the nest no more
will the eggs hatch if he isnt there???

take him out if you want. as there is nothing else in the tank they should be ok.
