Would they be a good match together in a 1.5 gal w/ a cave?

edit. and a java fern and some of it's cuttings...

Hi there! :D

I actually have the exact same setup going right now. I have my Male Betta living with my adf in a 1.5 gallon bowl with a couple small fake plants and a few live plant cuttings floating on the top...the both get along really well.

Feeding time is a little bit of a pain...I gotta distract the Betta and try and make sure my adf gets enough food. It's worth it though ;)

Good Luck!

How many water changes did you do? Wt substrate do you have? What do you feed them?

I was going to go with twice a week, and I already have gravel in my tank now. Betta's already in there too. I feed the betta frozen brine shrimp, and I know the ADF eats that too.

Thing is I thought ADF's need to be in groups of 2... Hope he finds the betta to be of sufficent company. I know the ADF is gonna be OK, I just don't want the betta to get aggresive and all that because he's been in this tank for a while now, nearly a month.

Cheers,

I usually do water changes about every other day...just a little bit of water maybe 10%. Before I knew better I would leave the water 4-5 days but then my Betta got sick first time he got a viral infection...puffy red gills...but treated him and he got over it ...second time he got pop eye...which is usually to do with poor water conditions so I started doing the water changes more frequently.

I never do 100% water changes when I do decide to do a whole cleaning of the bowl...I save about half the old water in a container...clean the rocks etc...then add new de-choloranated water and the old water then the adf and betta back into the bowl. I've had both for 11 months. They have lived on their own in separate smaller bowls...but recently I got a bigger 1.5 bowl and decided to move them in with eachother. They have been living with eachother for about 2 weeks. No problems what so ever. :D

I'm still pretty new here...not sure what substrate means? Is that the breed of my Betta? If so I just have a commen veil tail Betta.

I feed them Frozen bloodworms...and Betta flakes...though the Betta flakes are only for the Betta as my adf doesn't eat flakes.

Yeah I've heard adf's like to be in groups of 2 or more as well...but I've been reluctant to get him a buddy...because he's full grown and the only other adf's I've seen at my lfs are tiny...so I'm afraid maybe he's try and eat them or something. I've had mine for about 11 months alone and he's always been active and seems happy.

If I were you I'd put the Betta and the frog together...watch them for a bit...see what happens...my guess is that they will get along just fine...but it's better to watch and make sure. My Betta had been alone for 11 months in his own little bowl and when I added him and my adf nothing happened what so ever..they get along so well.

Good Luck!!
