my fish is a betta VT, he is blue and is in a tank with his mate, the tank is kept in my bedroom and the behaviour of the fish is sitting on the bottom not doing much (swims around for a bit then sinks to bottom again).

my fish has strands of white coming from his fins and a couple from his body, looks kinda like a spiders web rolled up if u get me (very fine looking but thick enough to see easily. and also i have just done a water change and some of the watever it is came off the betta and it was wriggling, so it is alive watever is on it.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: every 3 days 90% water change

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:tap water conditioner and stress zyme

Tank inhabitants: female betta and male betta

plz help me, don't know what to do, also i carnt get a picture because my camera isn't gud enough to get a really clear picture to see it

Can you describe the parasite.

The white strands on the fins do they have a forked tail.

i doesn't look as though they have a forked tail no

but now that i have just done a water change he seems more happier and is swimming around a bit more.

thanks paul

Was it living on the fish.

Also you can't keep female and male betta together you must seperate them.

i think it was living on the fish yes, but i have had a compromise now, i have moved my fish into storage in another tank and i am going to clean the tank out fully e.g. gravel and everything, just to try and get rid of the disease

also i was breeding my male and female thats why they were together, it is about 2-3ddays since i released them to breed, so that is why they are togehter.

You need to find out fast which parasite it was as they can cause serious bacterial infections.
