betta with these fish?

Can I put a male betta in my 135l tank?
It would be with 3 red platys, 12 neon tetras and 2 female bettas.
I already put the gups in another tank as I wish to breed with them.

Well, I know some people on this board keep male and female betta's together successfully. I don't know how many gallons 135L is, but if it is big enough where they can each have their own territory, then it might work. Otherwise I would say don't chance it.

If I decide to buy a male betta, I'll try to find a way to keep him apart.
Just one more question: I saw that a lot of people keep their male betta in a sort of jar. Is that heated then? Also in the lfs, they keep them in a jar...

I'd say, if its heavily planted, i think it should work out. The females will be able to hide. I'd say, go for it. If it doesnt work out, THEN seperate him. Its worth a shot.

No, do not put them in jars. Its cruel. They survive, yeah, but not for very long. I'd say at least 1 gallon (4 liters). Put it in the warmest room in the house, as bettas need warm temperatures (about 23-26 celsius). It must also not fluctuate too much. if you cant maintain the temperature that way, then get a 20 liter so that you can heat it and filter it.

thanx, I wasn't planning on putting them in a small jar ofcourse, I was just wondering about the heating...
Since I don't have room that's warm and stable enough, I'll have to use heaters. Unfortunately, as you can see, I only have two tanks. Not really perfect for breeding fishies
I have an old tank, but if I have to by a heater and filter and stuff like that, it'll be almost as expensive as bying a new all-in one I guess...

Well, it's not that big of a problem, I'm just starting with fishkeeping, so I'm glad none of the fish I bought have died up till now...
