Betta With Swollen Belly

If I was bloated I doubt I could face eating either.
Once a fish stops eating it not looking good. As you probably already know.

All that is left to do is try the garlic i'm afraid.
Let me know how you get on if you don't mind.
Good Luck.

I am not long back in the house from work, I am still trying to work out what is wrong with Tom, my betta.

He still has the swollen belly. He is not really moving, spends most of the time resting on a plant at the top of the tank. He has no appetite.

My other half, who was doing the posting this afternoon, tried him with a blood worm mixed with crushed garlic. She thinks but is not 100% positive that he eat some of it. When we tried it again he showed no interest in it at all.

He is not pine coning. I don't believe his colour has faded, if it has it has only be a slight bit.

I am not sure if it is an internal bacterial infection or dropsy. I hope it is false dropsy as some folk call it.

I have treated the tank with epsom salts. I am using loraxchick guide of 1 tsp per gal. I believe since she is american that it will be a US gallon as opposed to a UK one.

I am also adding a 1/2 tsp of melafix. A couple times when I did this he perked up a bit immediately after it was added and swam into it.

I am also adding myxazin. Again he seems to swim into this and almost appears to be coating himself with it.

Is there a better med that anyone could recommend? Mind I am in the UK so it can be a tad difficult getting hold of antibiotics.

I am also and will continue to do about 40% water changes every couple of days. Reason it is 40% is that is the size of the bucket that I have. I have added epspm salt to the water I am adding.

Is it right that a betta can go a month without eating? His previous record was about 30 minutes, he is food daft.

The other suggestion that I have read is to raise the temp to 80c. Would anybody recommend this?

Other than that I am giving him motivational speaches, keeping the tv on and stuck a picture of my niece to the wall beside his tank, he is her fish.

There esha 2000, anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
There furanol 2 by jbl, but hard to get hold of, and also it wipes the beneifical bacteria out in the filter.
Try and see if you can order some maracyn online.
