I have a 10 gallon tank with 3 oto's a betta and an appple snail. About a week ago one of my otocinclus got ich.I took out my betta and transfered him to a different tank because I didn't want him to catch it too. In the oto tank, I turned up the temperature to 86*F and the spots disappered. It is still at 86*F just to make sure they are all dead. I also did a 50% water change 2 times. They are healthy now. But the betta that's in a different tank now has ich. I can't turn up the temperature in this tank because the heater is cheap and just keeps it on 78*F. Should I move the betta back to the original tank to kill the ich, will that risk infecting my oto's? I don't want to use store bought meds because they only work at the free form swimming stage of the disease. I don't want anything to die. Please help! Thank you :)

You made a mistake moving the betta to another tank as it was almost bound to have ich also even though it wasnt showing. You will equally be making the same mistake by moving it back to a now clean tank. All the fish in the tank the betta is in will have likely caught ich. You will have to treat the whole tank. I agree most store bought treatments are rubbish. I do believe in King British WS3 and if you do as the bottle says it will likely work. I would stop all feeding till the disease is clear and the fish are all lively again.
