Betta? With Guppies!

Good rules when keeping a betta in a community tank is to not have fish that could resemble another male betta soooo: No long attractive fins, no bright colours, and not in with nippy fish that could harm your betta either. So Guppies are definitely a big no,no. The cories would be fine though.

thanks for that, as much as i love themi dont just want one fish o its own sorry, any other tankmates?

I have Platies in with mine if you wanted to stick with the livebearer side of things... of course, mine are in with females and not a male... soo... Females I think would do okay with guppies, I don't think a male would be though.

Female guppies should be fine.

My lfs had a male betta in with guppies, I asked if it was OK and the guy said yes because they were female guppies, but he wouldn't dare put the betta in with male guppies. Pets at Home at them in with neon tetras which I thought wasn't quite so good.

First rule of fish keeping, "never believe anything the lfs tells you" :p

No, I probably wouldn't if he hadn't been keeping and breeding fish for over 20 years and I hadn't seen for myself that the fish looked fine and well cared for :)

That's good, becasue I wouldn't either  Bettas especially very greatly, so I wouldn't put a betta with anything as it's not worth the risk both to the other fish and the betta.
