My cuz has a betta, boomer, that has dropsy, we cleaned the tank and I wuz wondering if ne one knows of medicines that can help him THANX!

Hi Doby :)

Unfortunatly, I have bad news for you. :-( There is really nothing you can do for a fish that has dropsy. By the time it is showing the symptoms it is usually too late.

It would be nice if you could get a new betta for your cousin. I'm sure that it would make the loss easier. ;)

I don't know anything about dropsy but when my betta was sick (he got his eye almost poked out by a sharp plant) I gave him this stuff called BettaFix Remedy. It worked really well and he didn't loose his eye! It's made by splendid betta, aquarium pharmaceuticals. Go to www.aquariumpharmeceuticals.com to find out more about this product. Maybe it can help.

Yeah unfotunately there are three things you can consider

1. Mercy Killing
2. Feeding it livefood for the rest of its life (What i do in these cases)
3. Let it live its life to the end normally

Follow my sig to diseases :-(

Now my cousin, who breeds the bettas, actually has used something effectively for dropsy with bettas, and I've seen it work 3 out of 5 of her cases. Obviously, there's no guarantee, but it's worth a shot. I do not know what it is, but will certainly find out for you, and get back to you later today.

I'm sorry to hear about your case of dropsy. I know it all too well as I lost my little girl Pinkie to dropsy earlier this year. I tried everything I had available to me even though I knew it's 99% fatal. I wish now I had just euthanized her cause it killed me to see her suffer like that. :(
