Miki, my Crowntail, has had what seems to be a bacterial infection, at he base of his tail. I live in an area with no LFS, other than WalMart, so I don't have access to many meds. It has not responded to salt, Melafix, or Pimafix. I know these aren't necessarily recommended for Labyrinth fish, but I have little choice. Yesterday, I actually painted the lesion with Betadine. He looks pretty bad, and is no longer moving about much, and is not eating. I'm wondering if this means that the infection has moved to his inner organs. I don't want to euthanize( he's one of my special fish) but if he's suffering, I will...any opinions or suggestions...please...

Disregard the above post...I've euthanized him.

melafix and pimafix are useless for things like that

in future try buy some anti bacterial over the internet so ur prepared if something like this happens again :)

sorry for ur loss xxx

Bless him R.I.P.
Wise to have anti internal bacteria med by interpet in stock.

I plan on purchasing some when I go out of town in Nov....assuming I can get it! I guess I got a little complacent...I've never had a disease in any of my tanks...
