Betta Update

you need to codition for atleast 2 weeks fed on a variety of frozen foods peas and flake the male and females shouldnt see each other because she may relise her eggs and eat them nce thats happened she cant breed as she will most likely eat the eggs for ever

when feeding to inform u their stomachs are only the size of their eye so shouldnt be fed loads

What is your plan for the babies? And no offense butdo you know how to properly breed bettas? Because conditioning is one of the most important things and you dont even know what it is. Once again, no offense
As i said in the original post, this is my first time doing it and any of the research i have done has never mentioned conditioning and the breeder i got them from advised me to do it the way i just described and so i have. Im going into him tomorrow to get betta feed from him and more advice. but it never hurts to have more than one source, I have arranged with a few diff breeders that i know localy to take the males off me and some females, im hoping to keep females and maybe a a male for my community tank. As i have always has one but since he is breeding he is in his own tank
not in his own tank! this is his tank and the female will most likely be ripped to shreds as he knows this tank you need to condition him in another tank

thay are already together and getting along fine... in their own tank separate to my community tank
they shouldnt be tbh at any point one could turn a destroy the other i recomend seperating even if they have bred
how long have u conditioned them for ? cause the female wont produce eggs just like that she needs time hense the 2 weeks conditioning as well as getting them to top physical breeding condition

conditioning is the most important thing

honestly i didnt condition them, but as far as myself and my breeder can tell they are doing fine and right were they shud be, i know it not the perfect way ive done it but like ive said already ive never done this before ans did not realise how complicated it actually was, next time if there is one wil probably go better than this one.

The way you're doing it could cause harm to your Bettas. Breeding require patience and careful planning. Conditioning is pretty much the fundamental basis which breeders spawn on; it not only helps ensure the safety of your Bettas, but also the safety of the fry. You have an implied duty when taking the fish that you will care for them, and if attempting to breed them, will make sure it is done properly. Lack of research is not acting in accordance with said duty. Not having done it before, seems to me anyway, invalid, as it is concerning the life of animals which are entirely dependent on your judgement. I'm not trying to be nasty, but this is the bottom line. I agree with what Liquid Skills said, separate and condition them properly for two weeks.

+1 :)

Id take on board what everyone has said. Id say you have been wrongly advised from the start (not from this topic, from elsewhere)
Separate your male and female asap, read LOADS of different advise online, make sure you have EVERYTHING you need for when the fry hatch, big grow out tank, separate tanks for up to 70+ males that you might end up with, live foods, lots of spare time..

Some people can just stick 2 bettas in a tank and they will breed, others suffer and end up loosing 1 of them as the other basically rips it to shreds. You need to be prepared for the possibility that you could end up with 70+ bettas.

I have had 2 successful spawns, but also 2 unsuccessful, I am certainly no expert at all. But coming from someone who has bred bettas and ended up with 72 from my first spawn, 52 of which were males, I can not tell you enough that you need to do more research and planning.

Good luck :good:
