Betta Update

update on my betta with finrot.

he's eating this morning (i put the first dose of treatment in yesterday) and everything, but everywhere he swims he leaves a trail of whiteish slime and little bits of dead-looking fin.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE tell me this is normal!

is the slime coming off the fins or body aswell.

just the fins as far as i can tell..... most of the fin rays that were sticking out with no fin on them have fallen off. will they grow back?

i agree about sticking to the same thread. as i said, once the bacteria is killed off by the med. you will see regrowth. it appears as almost colorless and will color up with time. just keep treating the fish as per directions on the package. you may need two rounds of meds if it is a bad strain. did you remember to remove the carbon from your filter before adding the meds?
his fins will defo regrow. my betta got thru his divider and into a fight with his tankmate resulting in pretty serious fin damage. it grew back in about 4 months and took a while longer for it to completely color up. now he looks perfect. you can barely tell there was ever a problem.

as mentioned, please stay to one thread. it gets confusing for folks who want to help and with multiple threads, people are less likely to hunt around for the info they need which might be on another thread.

good luck with him. it is startling when your fish get sick...but youre doing what you should be so just let the meds work and then you will see his fins begin to grow back!

If no improvement in a week time you might need to switch meds.
