hi all my beloved betta does not look so hot his fins look like they have been through a lawnmower and he has white on the very tip of his fins on his belly. sorry i dont know the technical name of those fins still new to the whole fish thing. i love this fish it was one of the first i bought and want to help him he is the largest fish in my five gallon along with two neons. someone recommended melafix will this hurt the other fish. i take extremely good care of the tank water and filter can anyone help. 
If the fins are ragged and have a white fuzz on the tips, it's most likely to be fin rot. There's a lot of medications for treating fin rot, but I personatly use Jungle Fungus Clear Tank Buddies. It's best to transport teh sick fish into a hospital tank since the other fish could catch the disease and the medication sometimes could harm healthy fish. Good luck!
