Shh ... This is a secret the other half doesn't know about it yet, haha!
But I'm thinking about getting another tank ideal for a Betta and a few shrimp. The Betta's I've seen all have really flamboyant fins - would these be adult males?
Not got the tank yet, it's coming out of next months wages - as this current tank has already cost me a fair few bob!
So what's the ideal size for one? Nothing too big - just something that fits on a desk.

I think a 20-30 litre tank would be ideal. 20 litres is on the small side (for me, based on my experience with bettas) but still sufficient for loads of plants, a few open spaces, caves and swimming room. 30 litres is a great size, but any bigger will be tough to fit onto a desk. I've got a 30 litre tank on my bedside table which is tiny so I know it's do-able.

Yes, the long-finned bettas are the ornamental type males. There are also short-finned 'wild type' and ornamental males, which makes sexing them a little tricky, but no females (as yet) that have been bred with the really long fins. There are some longer finned females, but they still don't look much like the long finned ornamental males.

Fishless cycle, yes yes? =)

Current tank is 35lr - soo i can visualise a slightly smaller tank :)

So my plan of action is to get the tank - fishless cycle (once again) then in the meantime keep my eye out for long finned male bettas :hyper:
