Betta Tank Setup

Ive looked through the stickys and done abit of googling but im wondering, what sort of setup do bettas like?

Currently mines in a 2.5gal tank, filter blocked and cycled, gravel bottom with a few small plants (trimmed some stuff that i got at LFS {looks similar to a pine tree} and planted the off cuts in the tank)
ive got a 25w heater coming tomorrow.

is there anything Im missing? Stuff they prefer like hiding places and such?

Bettas usually hang out near the surface, under a floating plant. They will spend most of the time sitting around doing very little. A few floating plants, clean warm water and a varied diet is about all they need. Most ornaments and decorations are more for people's pleasure rather than the fish's.
