Can I put a baby platy in with a betta?

I currently have one lone surviving baby which my female platy had, however I think I've noticed that it's possibly a male. As adorable as platys are I really don't want to run the risk of a tankful of more platys when he's old enough to get frisky!!

So I was wondering whether I could rehouse the baby in with my Betta, who's in a seperate 15GAL?

Thanks for any responses.

not too sure but if it is too small the betta will eat it, and when it grows up it may nip the betta's fins (not sure about that though so wait for more opinions)

If you are willing to give it to someone, Resguy I think was looking into getting some and he might buy it from you. Just PM him

Thanks for that but Marble's a little character and I'm not looking to rehome him, unless I really have to. Poor little blighter has already run the gauntlet of not being eaten by his tankmates, and i've got very attached to him already.

I'm really hoping I can put him in with Barney the Betta.

Hi,

When I had platys in with my betta before they were always fine.... I have seen things on other forums saying they are ok too!!

Hope the little chap settles in ok!

Thanks guys
i'm away on holiday for 2 weeks from Friday (leaving my precious fishies in the care of my teen daughter, God help them!) so I'm going to leave putting Marble (platy) in with Barney (Betta) until I return, so if it's not going well I'm at hand to put him back in with his mum.

Once again, thank you for the replies- much appreciated :)
