Right heres the story:
My betta was really ill with white spot, he was just resting at the top of the water hardly moving and has had fin rot to go with it. Currently it's day 5 of his second treatment. and even though he is a totally different fish since when he first got it I can still see white spots on his side fins. I am treating him with waterlifes protozin.

I had a set back on wed night (day 3 of second treatment) where a power cut managed to kill his heater. I took it back yesterday and got him a new better one. But in the meantime his orb dropped to about 20c.
Has this messed up his treatment and encouraged the whitespot to some back?
Also can I treat him for a 3rd time?

Hi There,

I am prety much a noob, but I recently had a bout of whitespot and managed to cure my tank without a casualty. I spent days researching, (even after treatment)and many people reccommend that you keep treating untill all spots have been clear for 4 days. I only had to treat twice, so I'm not speaking from experience. I used interpet treatment no 6 and I'd rather somone who has used the same medication as you advise you before you act.
Raising the temperature, speeds up the ICH's cycle and encourages them to fall off your fish quicker. I raised mine to its max...82F and didn't have a problem with any of my fish. I only needed to treat twice and all my spots had gone before the second treatment.

If it was me I'd treat again, but I'd rather you wait till someone else has OK'd it first.

If you answer the following, it will help others advise you.

Have you removed your carbon filter? (my medication insisted on this, others may not)
How bigs the tank?
Are there any other fish in the tank?
What's the temperature now?

Good Luck, I hope he pulls through!

Dave

Are you sure it's ich, seems a few other things resemble it.

I've always had success treating ich using either Nox-Ich and now Kordon Rid-Ich+ and doing the 25% daily water changes as the directions state. It's important to keep using the medication for at least 3 or 4 days after all the spots are gone from the infected fish. Some times I've rasied the water temperature, some times I didn't, didn't seem to make any difference either way.

Good luck!

i need more info realy
size of tank
ph, ammonia, nitrate ect
anyway the temp drop could cos caused ich, i think you should raise the temp to about 80-82 and increas aireation.
but use http://www.nationalfishpharm.com to bo 100% sure what to do (good diognostics and treatment)
good luck

He's in a 15 litre Biorb on his own. I did a 30% water change on day 8 of the previous cycle. His water stats are fine.
The only reason I was asking was since the heater broke and the temp dropped he has white spot back again.
Water is back up to about 27 again. x
