i just bought a green veiltail betta a couple days ago and he seems like he's got white cottony stuff growing outta little holes in him... he has just seemed very down since i got him... duno if he was already infected or not before i got him....
im housing him in a 2 gallon and the room is around 74-76 degrees... i added salt to try and help but theres no way i can get anything for him at the moment its nearly midnite...
owell, im just really depressed at the moment
:(

Oh i am sorry to hear that about your new betta. If you can try to get down to the lfs in the morning and get some fungus meds.

Sounds like fungus to me.

Good Luck!

thx for trying to help guys, ill do my best...
hopefully at least he'll last thru the nite so i can treat him 2moro.

slightly different i know, but my gouramis are currently sick too. the first thing I noticed about them was the cotton wool like growths and imediatly assumed fungus. however, after posting on here some more knowledgable people told me that fish do not just 'get' fungus and it is a sign of another problem.

It may be your fish has been hurt by another fish or netting? that could cause damage to the fish and then fungus could grow, but it could be something else.I would say look closely at your fish as if it has a parasite or bacterial infection this will also need treating

good luck :)
