im not sure what my betta has... i think its fin rot. its fins are thin and seethrough(but hes yellow so that might b why...) and his vecrtrals and top fin are kind of spirally and dont open all the way.

if it is fin rot theN i wuz wondering if QUICK CURE would help(what nonexpensive meds would u recommend?)... also his dorsal fins branch part thingys are kind of bent. can i fix this or is it just part of the fin rot?

i'll try 2 get pictures but its hard 2 make out his fins cuz hes yellow...

and advice or thought would be SO helpful!

It sounds perfectly normal, but pics would be good just to make sure. :good:

Curly fins are often a result of minor damage a while ago and the fin growing back later.

I think my betta, Monet (a red veintail), may also have fin rot. I will try and post a picture tommorrow. When i got him (he was picked by my friends) his tail looked a little ratty with slight curling at the ends. I checked on him today after being away for 24 hrs and it looks like he has a little bit of greeny fluff which he cannot shake off on his caudal tail. I was wondering what kinds of medications are available in Australia? Theres no point trying to find something that isnt available. Also, what are the side effects of the medications? I've only had Monet for a week (after recieving him as a birthday present) so its hard to know what is him normally compared to how he would normally be, though he does seem less excited than before. Currently I only have what was given to me as part of a kit. The kit included a tank (which is 2Ls which will be replaced with a bigger one in about a weeks time when i find the money); dechlorinator; plastic plant; food grainules (which i have been supplimenting with mosquito larvae); a net; pebbles/rocks. Is there anything i should consider investing in as an addition to this (other than a bigger tank, the one I'm looking at is about 10-12L)?

That all being said, if he does have fin rot will it be ok to treat him in his current home?

Well here aare the pictures... sorry they didnt turn out alright....

hopefully soon i'll b able 2 take pics showing of his beauty...!!!

Here are some pictures of Monet. Ignore the big white spot (that is just reflection off the tank). These were the best out of a bad bunch of pictures. Its still really hard to tell about his tail

Okay well, since you've only had him since Saturday, his fins are probably just curled/clumped/burned from the high amounts of ammonia from the pet store. He looks like he's otherwise healthy, and if that's indeed the case, it's nothing to worry about. Just keep his water nice and clean. :)

yay... how long do u think it will take 4 his tears 2 heal?

and Indavegetable, its hard 2 see anything wrong with ur betta from the pics. he looks fin....
