Do male bettas have a scent that can be picked up by females?
Just wandering as I have had to put one of my females in a breeding trap as she is very weak and it is easier for her to get to the surface. I noticed as soon as it went in the tank all the girls started to gather round it. They are all displaying and flaring at each other now, This is the trap that I use to introduce females into my males tank. So I am guessing it may be to do with his scent, or is it something more mundane like they see a clear plastic box as a threat and then feel the urge to take it out on each other?
