I recently brought a betta for my community tank but his fins got nipped at and so i have move him to my second tank so he is on his own.
he is swimming better and taking food no sign of fin rot but going treat with melafix just in case.

but what i really would like to know is how long will it take for them to grow back? will they grow back? and if they do will they look OK?

thanks for your help

This happened to my betta too, it took about 2 months for his tail to grow back fully and is now looking much better, colouration is pretty similar just a tiny bit lighter than before. It may be a bit weak because it recently developed a small split which is healing again already. But he's happy and looking awesome! Just keep the water clean and use your fin treatment medicine and he should be fine!

They will grow back. The time it will take to do so depends on the size of the missing fin. Tears usually heal in a few days. Chucks can take a little longer and sometimes won't grow back as clean as they once were. My avatar betta had a bad case of fin rot when I got him. It took about 3 months for his fins to re-grow and they aren't as long as they use to be and the rays are messed up.
