I have a betta and he has also been a picky eater but now he is compeletly refusing to eat anything. When I first got him he liked the pellets then one day he just started refusing to eat them and only wanted the flakes. He was eating the flakes fine for about 10 weeks but starting 2 weeks ago he only would eat half or less of his flake food. I tried bloodworms and shrimp in the past and he hated them. Now he is refusing to eat anything. He won't eat blood worms, shrimp, pellets, gold fish flakes or betta flakes. I'm started to get concerned because he has not eaten anything in three days and now he is starting to just sit at the top of the tank. He still swims around but stays at the top of the water line and wont eat. What can I do to get him to eat?

There was an African Dwarf frog in the tank up until about 4 weeks ago until it dissappeared, not sure what happened but he must have jumped out. After the frog dissappeared his behavior changed a little but he would still eat.

Hi....We have a similar problem with one of our females and have tried just about everything for the last 2 months. The one time when we did get her to eat was with live daphnia. To be honest I'm surprise that she is still with us. Some people recommend soaking the pellets in garlic juice or Bloodworm juice. Are you sure he has no other problems such as internal bacteria.....stringy poo would be an indication of a problem.

I don't think he has any other problems. He has been picky since I ot him about 4 months ago. I'm not sure abou the poo, I've never seen it....

I give up no more fish for me. I was watching him and he was swimming around fine then all of a sudden he goes to the bottom turns sides ways and never comes back up :(

ohhhh sorry to hear that did you get him from a pet store?
sorry to say but alot of the males in the local pet store are older breeder cast offs,, bettas only get about 3 years. he might have been a old boy when you got himm sounds lkie you tryed to do everything you could, so dont be too hard on your self. if you feel like you might want to get another little guy eventually get a nice healthy little guy from a breeder, that way you can start out with a healthy fish,, somtimes the way they are treated before you get them has life long conscuences like un healthy fish with shorter life spans.
rip little guy. :rip:

So sorry to hear you lost him :( but don't be put off. These things sometimes happen out of the blue and there's just nothing that can be done.

Aww hun i am really sorry to hear that. Don't go off them tho, we all loose fish from time to time, it a sad fact of life. Please don't blame yourself either

R.I.P lil fella

Sorry about your lose. You just have no way of knowing how old they are to start with. Please don't gove up on them
