Ok, I need to know, in order to breed Bettas, do you need a completely separate tank for just the two? Or are you able to have them breed with only five other fish in the tank? Would the other fish mess with the bubble nest? (3 platys, 2 swordtails)

Betta breeding requires a lot of research & isn't something to be taken lightly.
You could have up to 100 fry that need to be separated, have you enough spare tanks & time to take care of them?
There are a couple of threads here you should read before even thinking about it, & no you can't breed them in a tank with other fish

You will need a whole different tank.
Other fish will eat the eggs and disturb them.
The water level would also need to be dropped and filters to be turned off, so I would suggest you use a different tank for your breeding pair. :)

Thanks! And how big does the tank need to be for them, I'm sure it can't all happen in his 3 gallon small tank :T

A 5 gallon will work, but a 10 gallon is recommended.
I use a 10 gallon breeding tank and personally wouldn't use anything smaller. :)

c: thanks again! I'll see what I can do, waiting for my Betta to recover from a recent cat attack, then I will breed him with my friend's female, Pachinko and Iridescence c: they have lovely colors.

I hope he gets better soon then :)
Good luck with your future breeding plans :good:
