So this morning the divider i made for Percy Blue Magoo (Awesome name to say lol) and Casper was dry. So I put it in my tank and all was well. I acclimated and introduced Percy. Percy is a little bit smaller than Casper, but thats not important.
Casper is a jumper. I purposly leave him in the tank durring water changes, even 90% ones (Which I do every few months)
Because if I put him in a cup he jumps out within a minute (I could use a lid I suppose, but then I feel like he'll hit his head)
ANYWAYS
He jumped the divider within five minutes! Poor Percy was so startled he didn't know what to do (If I were in his place I would have soiled myself and swum as fast as I could) but he did pretty well on hiw own while I panicked and ran and grabbed a net and scooped him back into his cup.

My 20 gal is aprox 12 inches tall. I made the divider 14 inches tall because I knew Casper was a jumper. Did anyone know they could jump that high!!

My 5 gal got broken about a month ago but my Neighbor has one she's giving me (Thank god!) And one of them (Percy I think) will live in a 5 gal in the living room instead. And Casper remains the king of his 20 gal.

I'll set up the 5 gal all nice with some of the fish stuff I have laying around. I'll post pictures when Im done..

OY VEY! The Drama!! :p Did anyone know they could jump that high?
For that matter, whats the highest someone has had their Betta jump? Just so I know what possibly to expect :p

No silly :p the tank has 12 inches of water in it and 2 inches of the divider was out of the water :p

The joys of trying to convince two males to live harmoniously side by side XD

I lost one of my first bettas as a kid to jumping :( He cleared 4 inches of air above the surface of his tank to jump all the way out of it and off the shelf the tank was on. I was not home at the time and when I got there, he was too far gone :( Keeping a lid on betta tanks is essential, and of course they still need air. Using plastic mesh over big openings in a tank lid works well. Being in a divided tank can increase the chances of jumping if the bettas know of their neighbors, so the divider does either need to go right up to the lid or mesh needs to be placed in the gap.
