Betta Pellet Shelf Life?

If someone purchased betta pellets in lets say 2003, used only a few, and kept the jar cover on the rest of the pellets till now in 2009 so no air or bugs could get in, would the pellets still be safe to eat? How long until a covered jar/container of betta pellets goes bad?

I wouldn't of thought they would still be ok after this long. On our tub of Attisons Betta Pro is says to use within 6 months of opening.

Ok, this has no expiration date so I wasnt sure if mabye they lasted years. I guess using them isn't a good idea then, thanks.

the only way that it would be possible to keep them fresh would be to have them in an vacuum pack so there is no air to react.
