Hi everyone...
I just recently acquired a betta fish (halfmoon Siamese fighting fish, male). He is in a 2-gallon tank by himself. For some reason, he refuses to eat. He swims occasionally, sees his food, and rests at both the top and the bottom, but he just won't eat :( I've tried freeze-dried bloodworms and betta pellets. I added API Stress Coat+ and Seachem Prime to make sure his water was safe before putting him in. What on earth am I doing wrong? :(

How long have you had him in the tank...is it filtered and heated? If so, was the the filter cycled? What are your water parameters at this time? And has he eaten at all since you got him? I know my betta had no interest in food when I first got him.

I've had him for a day, and all my readings are at 0. My tank isn't heated because my house is hot enough; I don't even need to run a heater in my 10-gallon. It's at 80*F.

It's been one day. Let him settle in, get worried if it's more than 3 days.

Yeah, he is adjusting to his new environment. I think the longest it took one of my bettas to eat was a week, and I have had him for 6 months now. He hsould be alright in a couple of days, onces he is used to the lovely new home. Remember, this poor little guy is probably used to a jar, and you just expanded his universe ;)

Still no eating. :( I put in 3 pellets this morning, he swam to them, and swam away without eating. I thought maybe it was the food. I added 2 dried bloodworms, still got nothing. What should I do? I did a water change for my poor baby just a few minutes ago :( I'm worried about feeding because I don't want to taint his water with old food, but I feel like I'm starving him! ;(

I add Seachem Prime and StressCoat+ each time I change my water.

I did notice something interesting, however. I have a small Anubis plant in his tank. When I changed his water this evening, I noticed a thick white pile on one of the leaves, slightly small. Is this a bubble nest? As I changed the water, it slipped right of with a few swigs. It is very possible that his food sank to one of the leaves and rotted, but I would be shocked if after one or two days it turned into a white foamy looking substance. Rotting normally takes much longer!

Then again, bubblenest pictures I've seen always have a Betta planting them on top....

What's going on to poor Spot? :(
