Betta Looking Not So Good

I recently had my first spawn, which was successful so far. This was 8 days ago.

Now, the dad is in a corner of the tank appearing to be gasping. He still surfaces for air, and[don't know if this was a good thing to do for him] he will flare at a mirror straight away. I noticed him "flicking" against objects, suggesting white spot so, I treated straight away and increased airation. He really doesn't look so good - any ideas?

Did you check water quality before you added the med.
What do his gills look like pale with excess mucas, or red and inflamed.
Best not to medicate till you know what you are medicating for.
Gasping and flicking dosn't always mean parasites, it can be a number of things.
