My Betta has developed a white cottony growth around his mouth, his fins are looking very raggedy and torn, and his color is not as bright. He won't (or can't) eat, and sits at the bottom of the tank. When he does move it's in very fast thrashings around the tank(2gallon), and then he stops and puffs away.
This came on very fast-about a couple hours after I cleaned his tank 3 days ago, I noticed the growth on his mouth. And it's since gotten larger, all around his lips-and it looks like some is inside his mouth as well.
I went to the Fish place where I got him, and they recommended Stress Coat and Bettafix Remedy. I've been using it for 2 days-and still no change. He's still not eating, and is getting very ill looking. I'm worried.:(

What more can I do? I've never had this problem with my Betta's before.
A friend on another forum recommended you guys to me.

Sounds like the water you used was contaminated, did you dechlorinate it.

Anyway you can buy some fungus/finrot medication from your local lf's check out this website and this is the sort of medication you need (http://www.ultimateaquatics.co.uk/acatalog/Freshwater_Medications.html) the Kordon Rid Ick, in the interim put some salt into his tank (presuming that he doesn't share it with anything else) and do a water change. Try not to stress him out too much when water changing and put the temp up in the tank slightly.
Don't worry about him not eating, they can manage for around 5 days without food, but do change his water and add some salt (aquarium salt not table salt etc.).

Chin up you can only do your best.

OK...the eating part is good to know.
So if I start using this medication...should I stop using the stuff I'm putting in there now? This will help with what he has? If my place doesn't have this, is there something comparable?
I have some aquarium salt-have never used it with my Betta's before-never had a problem. Guess I should starting using it again when I change the water.
Whenever I change the water I use the Betta Plus Water Conditioner. I've always used it and it's been good. Should I be using something different?

I really appreciate the help! Thank you!
