do bettas that have been in bowls for a while do badly in community tanks? cause i put one of my bettas into a small 10 gallon tank just now. and hes bullying around all the other fishes... do bettas from bowls generally dont do well in big tanks, or is it just me... i took him out now and all the fish returned to their territories.. he was in there fro about 10 minutes...

ive heard that if he is a male they are extremely territorial...but females are more mellow...now i DONT know if thats exactly true...so someone with more experience with a betta should be assisting you soon

but well i see so many other communitys with male bettas and they seem to do fine... :dunno:

9 out of 10 bettas will not do well in a community setting.

They are very territorial and moody. Putting other fish in with them is like putting a puppy in with a tiger. You just never know what's gonna happen..but you have a good idea -_- .

If you haven't taken it out..you should..unless you just want it to kill your fish. And the betta won't have to actually kill them..him chasing them can and wll stress them enough to allow them to become sick....and die..if he doesn't kill them first.

hmmmm... so if i got 10 bettas... i could single the one out that is commpatible... not... anyways...
i have never had a betta in a normal tank before.. IS THIS IMPOsIBLE FOR ME??

Definitely not worth the chance. You can get cheap smaller housing for them, and they are much happier, so I don't see why it would be worth taking the risk of it getting harmed or harming your other fish.

I think it just depends on each individual betta... Fiodore, the fish in my avatar was in my community tank for about 6 weeks, and he got along great with all of the other fish. When I moved Fio to his own 2 gallon tank, I put my other betta, in the community tank and he kept flaring at everyone! Also, I had one of Synirr's kids in the community tank for a short stay while I was getting his 2 gallon tank set up, and he got along great with everyone as well.

Yup, depends. 2 of the VT's statred in a community tank, I had to take them out after a week or so because they were getting aggressive. Kieow is fairly happily living with a tetra, he had two with him, but as you'd expect with only having two tetras, one was being a bully so he went next door in with Kaap. He was a bit flary at first, I think he's settled down a bit now.

What were the other fish in their? Because most fish don't work out together. If the fish that are in their are smaller than him then he will pick on him.
