I need to swap a couple of tanks over, so will my betta be safe for a couple of weeks if I move him to my 4ft community tank? Its got about 20 or so lemon tetras, 10 bleeding hearts, 5 silver tips, a few corys, a common plec, a yoyo loach and a few adult amano shrimp.

Thanks :)

you'll have to watch the tetra for fin nipping

My opinion would be no. There's too many nippers in there. How about hanging him in a breeding net in the tank?

Cories and danios shouldn't be a problem. I would be hesitant to try with any gouramis though.

Hi MoondustBob :)

It's funny that I seldom post about bettas any more, but I just answered a similar question in the cory forum so I guess I'll post here too.

One of the things you'll want to watch when you put your betta in a community tank is the water movement. If you have a HOB filter, or any other that causes much water circulation at the surface, the betta will wear itself out trying to swim in it. It's big, beautiful fins and tail are intended for show rather than work and it will tire easily.

While it might be alright for a short time, it would be best if you get it out of there as quickly as possible.
