well I want a male betta and a female betta in my community tank, I was wondering if that can be done? I have black skirt tetras and probably will want to get neon tetras too... will the bettas be alright without other bettas of the same sex?

also I saw someone's avatar with a white betta, where do I get a white betta?

u cant have two male bettas in the tank....

as far as i know the male will kill the female after they have done the thing  (typical male just cause she wont put the kettle on after doin a shift phhhhffttt lmao)

dunno about the rest

That's a sticky situation...I'd avoid it if I were you.
There are so many factors that play a role in keeping happy community bettas. How big is the tank...it can be too big because he won't be happy but it also can't be too small or he'll harass everybody.
Tetras may nip him, that's not fair to the poor beautiful betta.
Male will probably kill the female, either way they'll be confused.

Just put lots of thought into it before you decide, but it sounds like the perfect recipe for disaster

I got him and he's chasing my tetras without putting too much effort into it. I think he's just lazy. :p

my betta is also an idiot, he got his fins sucked into the filter

actually Bettas and long skirt tetras dont make very good tank mates becuase the long fins of the Tetras piss the Betta off and a problem may arise.

another community fish that doesnt go too good with the betta is the Neon Tetra. Neons in schools will harass the betta.

Maybe he's sick...not an idiot There also might be too much filtration for him in the tank...doesn't sound like it's going well. :/

If you can get your male with 2 or more females its generally safe (i have never had probs with 2+ females with a male) ;)

A pure white betta is a scarce commodity. Rarely are they sold at any LFS.

Just go for multiple females, if you want, but don't mix them. Not all bettas are easily preyed on, though. I went to Petsmart to get my friend a betta for Christmas, and I got her the betta that was in its own tank. Why? because the associates at Petsmart had to move him from a tank full of neons to that one because he beat up the neons!

Anywho, that betta probably isn't stupid, it might not have been paying attention. Ignorance isn't always stupidity, it's just inattention. Anywho, my betta loves swimming in the bubbles from my bubble bar. He rarely swims near the front of the tank. Sorry for the ranting!

HTH??
