Betta In A Bowl

A lot of people might tell you no, but depending on the size of the bowl, and so long as water changes are done a couple times a week, it should be okay. My first betta lived for about 2 years in a bowl, then lived another 3-4 in a tank.

So i don't see a problem with it, depending on the size of the bowl

it would depend on the size of the bowl, filtration is not essential as long as you keep the water clean, a heater is prob needed tho unless you can guarentee the water staying a set heat all day and night
one other thing is it would need a lid as betta are jumpers and will jump right out

xXx

And temperature...bettas are tropical fish, and as such should really be in warm water 24°C – 30°C.
As long as the water temperature doesn't drop far below that range, you will be fine in an unheated bowl (depending on the size obviously).

In an unfiltered tank/bowl, more frequent water changes are always needed too.
Also, bettas can and do jump, so something to cover the bowl is recommended.

Oh yeh i'll definatly get a lid. would a 50ish watt heater be ok? i cant really say yet about the heat as my bedroom is above the kitchen and the pipes. Thank you for all the help its really useful! :good:

A 50 watt heater sounds a bit too large, and could cause problems. Though you've still not said how big the bowl is anyway :p .

I would reccomend something along the lines of the NeWattino plus :good:.

You would be best to avoid things like hydor mini heater that don't have thermostats in them.

the bowl should be a reasonable size ,but doesnt have to be that big. My betta lived in a bowl for abt 3 years. I think that they would live longer in a tank.

try living in your toilet or something. see if you like it. then think about your betta question.
