hi all, my beeta is sick i think. he used to be active would swim around all day happy chasin other fish but now he just lies at the bottom of my tank or he just rest ontop of my filter and wont move he does move ocasionally and he doesnt look sick or anything. he is only eating a wee bit and i dont think he is constipated help me urgently please

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph.
What do you feed your fish.
Does the betta look bloated.
Cook some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool down and pop out of shell, mush between fingers into small bits, then add to the tank.

its a 30L tank
there is a hiney gouromois(spelling) and a catfish
its feed flakes
and it doesnt look bloated

The tanks overstocked.
Feeding flakes all the time the fish can get constipated.
Try the peas.
The fish will need frozen foods and veg in there diet.

what do you mean its over stokced there is only 3 fish in there?

EIT: sorry its actaully a 45L tank

What type of catfish is it.
Are you having any problems between the betta and the honey gourami

its striped dora catfish and its only about 3iches big

the betta and the gourami didnt get on at 1st but now they get on great they follow each other everywhere:D

so do you think i need a bigger tank before i add a few more fish

i was thinkin of 3 bronze corys

Bigger tanks are far better.
The tanks on the small side.
You could just keep the betta in that tank and buy a bigger one for the other fish.
Betta do better on there own.
I would try the peas to see how the fish goes he might just be constipated.

ok so should i wait and get a bigger tank 1st then buy the corys or would it be alright to get the corys now and get a new tank by the end of next week?

I( wouldn't add anymore fish to the tank you have now.
If you buy a new tank the tank would have to be cycled to add corys.
I would look up on a fishless cycle.

i tryed feeding him the flake food as thats all i had then i remembered i had some blood worms so i feed him taht and hey presto he is eating again.:D just waiting on my peas now:)

The worst thing you could of done is feed bloodworms when you think the fish might have constipation.
Over feeding to many bloodworms can make a fish bloat up.
I wouldn't recommend feeding bloodworms no more than twice a week.

i only feed them once a week with bloodworms and he isnt constipated cause i seen him take a big dump just before i feed him:D

what is a varied diet for the betta? pellets, flakes, brine shrimp, peas? would this be a varied diet if fed throughtout the week?

a varied diet prevents constipation
