Okay - I have a CT that I'm going to be upgrading his housing arrangements. I've seen a few people use this before but I'm not sure if it would work as a permenant home. I do like the fact that it's larger (I'm guessing between 2-3 gallons). My other option is a 1 gallon tank. I'm concerned about the fact that the container is plastic...

Here's a photo of what I would like to use (cheese poofs gone and container cleaned out really well) of course...

If it was cleaned out really well, my only concern would be how to heat it. An aquarium heater might melt the plastic.

i agree with dmarie if you cleaned it out like really good then you could possibly put a betta in there but heating it would be a problem the would melt the plastic i recommend you just get a 2.5 gallon tank thats what i've and plus it will give you more room to customize to your likings

Tanks really aren't that much, I payed $8.99 for my 10 gallon then $20 for my heater. Might as well get a real tank and make it all perty for him :D

:good:those sort of things are great in am emergency...like when I grabbed a betta that was being eaten from an lfs. and put him in a filter jug.....

They probably got JUST the tank for 9 bucks... you can get them at Walmart or Petsmart or whatever else you have near you.
But for 10bucks.. you could just go out and get you one of those aquarium kits. I think at Walmart they have a hex 5 kit for 30 dollars. Not sure if it comes with a heater though.

When I got my 10gallon tank kit.. Petsmart was having a sale so I only paid 40 for it all. Came with light, lid, heater & a filter :)

Thanks for the replys guys. As far as a heater goes....my room is itself kept nice and toasty (water temps stay consistant 74-75) - and don't worry I've checked them at multiple intervals durring the day - so there isn't a major temp. change at night or anything. And the rest of my betta boys and girls are perfectly fine.

I was more concerned with the plastic leaching nasties into the water. I have 4 of the 2.5 gallon tanks (1 betta per tank) already so I know where I can get them if he seems to need more space. The rest are in 1 gallon homes for the moment until my 20 gallon is fully cycled (I'm aiming to have a sorority tank) The temp. container I have him in right now is just way to small.

Thanks again!
