I noticed yesterday that one of my female Bettas wasn't looking too good. I immediately tested my water and my stats were:
Ammonia .5
NitrIte 0
NitrAte 10
pH 7.6
I was shocked to find the ammonia so high so I immediately did a 50% water change. I don't know what caused the Ammonia spike, my tank has been established since March, and I haven't added any new fish in over a month. Today my water stats are
Ammonia .25
NitrIte 0
NitrAte 0
pH 7.6
I'm going to do another water change in a few minutes, but anyway, back to the sick Betta. Her left eye is very swollen and has taken a kind of reddish color. She wont eat and has just been hanging around by the filter. I thought she was dead this morning but when I went after her with a net, she darted away. I have since isolated her to a 2 gallon bowl and I'm doing water changes twice a day. I don't, however, know what medication to give her for her eye. Anything would be helpful. I live in US, so no UK based meds please.
