Hi there just looking for some help. My daughter's Betta stopped eating. He mostly stays at the top of tank and either blows bubbles or bites at the water. I have researched websites and none of the diseases look like what he has. I noticed a pinhead size bump full of pus near his rear end. I read that sores could be swabbed. When I did that it bled. Now the pus is forming again. I've tried Betta Revive for 3 days. I've tried Epsom salt for constipation. I've tried a pea. He will not eat anything. He has survived without food for nearly 3 weeks. How often can I repeat the Betta Revive? The poor little guy has been exposed to so much! I hate to see him not eating. I use sparkletts drinking water in his gallon tank. I salt and condition his water. Any suggestions? Thanks.

what are your tank stats and how often do you do water changes? Also how big is your tank? If your water conditions are bad that could be the reason. It dosent matter what water you use, basic faucet water is perfectly fine as long as you de chlorinate it.

i assume that the small tank has no heater. keeping the water warm as they are tropical may help perk him up and get his metabolism going (he'd be more likely to be hungry)...i think its pretty rare for a fish to starve themselves...as for that sore spot, do regular partial water changes using dechlorinated water of similar temperature. adding salt may help @ 1 tsp/ 10 gal. salt keeps bacterial #s low in the water. melafix is a good andtibacterial med for open sores and abrasions/fin issues. hope that helps.
good luck!

Melafix is only good on cuts and wound.
If the lumps full of puss you need a bacterial med and not melafix.

second that , and if i am correct u said its only a 1 gal? probaly not heated then,, ither try getting a larger tank ,. think 2 to 5 gal with the correct sized heater,

or maby getting a reptile heat mat to place under it to warm it up ,, if its cold where u live even in teh house the water temp is probly only 65 to 70,, way to cold for a betta they need between 78 to 80,, and depending on waht the tank is made of ,,<< ie cheep plastic>><< or a delicate glass vase,>> ither wouldnt be sutiable for a haeter mat,, might melt or shatter... or a more struy heavy duty fish bowl glass drum ok for a heater..

the warmer temp would help the meds heal the wound

A picture would help a lot. As far as fav betta foods, try either frozen bloodworms, daphnia, or brine shrimp.
