I have to have ceramic media because I have a biorb life tank so covered them with large pebbles.

I bought 7 bags of them and tried to place them carefully to avoid as many gaps as I could but now and again my betta sneaks into the gaps and gets wedged between the glass and the pebbles and can't find his way back.

I've had to rescue him 4 or 5 times since I got him a few weeks ago. Should I take the pebbles out or will the ceramic media damage him too much? Any suggestions?

What about adding gravel with a few pebbles placed around. Maybe also invest in a slate cave.

Apparently I need to keep the ceramic media in the tank unless I completely replace the filter which I can't afford to do at the minute.

I have rocks made into a cave sort of thing but maybe I'll try adding another hiding place for him.

Fish do like there hiding places.
Move the pebbles away from the glass. So he can't get stuck.
