What types of offspring would I get if I crossed my butterfly delta tail mail with my marble crowntail female? The male is black and red with a little greenish iridescence on the body. The female is white with blue speckles and red and blue fins. I am curious to see what woudl come out of a cross between these two bettas, or if i should not even spawn them at all becuase they are so different.

P.S. I am not 100% sure abotu the colorations and tail types of my bettas, so I'll try and get some pictures of them posted soon.

impossible to say unless you know the parentage as well.

I finally got some pictures of my bettas...

With those two you would end up with a certain amount of combing on the fins but differing in length. As for the colours......well not knowing parentage and the fact that they are very different, you would end up with a hotchpotch of allsorts.

Should I look for bettas that are more similar in color and finnage then? Or would pairing these two up be fine.?

I'd say some would be random and some would be like mum, some like dad, some a mix. You never really know. I like crazy colours but thats just me say you wanted yellow baby bettas then get a yellow mummy and daddy simple =). I tink crazy is cute but thats just my opinion.

I think the best way to go is thinking about a) what you want to produce and b) what there is a market for. If you create 50 babies that you like, will others want to buy them? Yet if you create babies that others want but you have no interest in, will you be happy and keep you interested? Do you see what I mean?

They are both lovely, but I think you would benefit from finding either a different male or female to pair with one of the above - this is just my personal opinion. Choose a feature on either of them and decide what it is you'd like to achieve from using it. Whether that be tail type, body shape, colour etc

Hope that helps a little

Yeah It might be interesting to see what kinds of babies come out of a spawn between parents that are different.

What kind of female would you reccomend for breeding with the butterfly male? Like what types of fins and colors?

Well, sadly you don't know the genetic background of your male. But you could try to source a similar female to him, from a breeder who you will know the background of her. I would say you will see the best results from using a black and red female with the butterfly pattern.

Hi

We recently spawned a Red Dragon male with a red copper female, and we have a mix of colours. There are even a number of pure Platinums!!

Regarding tail types from the 2 bettas you have shown, there is no garentee what you will get.

I guess anything can pop up when spawning bettas...

I may just continue on with my search on a good female to spawn with my male betta, if mixing these isn't the best idea.
