Betta Fry And Their Mother?

This is very strange, but I just started jarring all the little male fry today. I put one of the jars next to the mom’s tank temporarily. The mom started swimming frantically at the glass toward the little male’s jar and he just sat there staring at her. I am wondering if the mom recognizes that this is her son...or maybe she just thinks he is food I am not sure...
