I found this poor betta at Wal Mart, and decided to take her home and nurse her back to health...if only I knew what was wrong with her. Looking at the pictures, it looks like a white filmy growth covering alot of her body, however it is absolutely not cottony like most fungi are (or so I read). She really doesn't seem to be in any pain; she's not scratching the rocks or breathing quickly/heavily. She's behaving absolutely normal. She ate a few bloodworms for dinner tonight, and seems fine, except of course for this ugly white film growing on her!! What is it? I don't want to start her on anything until I know what she has. Please help me....anything will help (even if you just wanna chat...i'm kinda bored!) Thanks in advance for your help!! Oh, I have her in a betta kit bowl that I got at petsmart years ago. It may be about half a gallon. I wanted her isolated until I know what she has. There's obviously no filtration. Thanks again!!

They look silver in the first pic, but if you look at the second pic,the one from above, you can see it's white. I was just looking at her, and it's mainly around her gills, it's like 'thicker' there, and there's even some spots on her eyelid.

+1 lilfishie.

Looks like female dragon betta :)

I'm not all that familiar with the different types of bettas, but i doubt wal mart would sell anything out of the ordinary. They just have what I beleive are called 'veil-tailed' females. I could be wrong, thanks so much for your response. Does anybody else see anything different?

well since got a Pearl dano in a tank selling goldfish then i dont see why they mistake the betta for another....

Oh, well I feel like an idiot!! I honestly whole-heartedly thought she had a terrible fungus! I've never seen a betta like that before. I guess I'll take her out of the isolation tank and put her in the big tank...thanks guys!

yeah, once they get mixed up it would be pretty hard to pick out the ones that don't belong!! That's funny.

it gets better! i found something resembling a mudskipper (not quite as mudskipper though) attacking the gupies!

I guess so...my bad! I'm just glad I didn't treat her unneccesarilly. Thanks again for being kind and not telling me I'm an idiot!! But really, I had no idea that was normal, it looks like a fungus!!

She's beautiful too, certainly a great fins especially if you got her at VT price :good: if you want to find her Tail type then check the link in my signature :)

I think she's a Plakat, her anal fin is super small, and the tails match...how much do those usually go for?? I'm in California by the way, i'm not sure where you are...
